BS Accounting and Finance

Program Overview

The BS in Accounting and Finance at NIT is designed for students who want to understand how financial information drives organizational decisions, market confidence, and long-term value creation. The program develops analytically strong and ethically grounded professionals equipped to manage financial systems in complex business environments.

Course Curriculum

Built on a solid foundation in financial accounting, managerial accounting, corporate finance, economics, and quantitative analysis, the curriculum emphasizes financial interpretation, resource allocation, risk assessment, and evidence-based decision-making. Students learn how financial data is generated, audited, analyzed, and used to guide strategic and operational choices.

The program integrates modern financial tools, data literacy, regulatory awareness, and ethical judgment, preparing students to operate confidently within corporate, financial, and public-sector contexts. Strong emphasis is placed on accuracy, transparency, compliance, and professional responsibility—core requirements of contemporary finance and accounting roles.

Students progress from foundational principles of accounting and finance into advanced study of financial management, auditing, taxation, financial markets, and risk analysis. This structured progression ensures graduates are prepared for analytically demanding roles and for professional certification pathways.

Graduates of the BS in Accounting and Finance are well prepared for careers across financial institutions, corporations, advisory firms, and public organizations, as well as for professional certifications and advanced academic study.

Accelerated Master’s Degree (4+1 Pathway):

High-performing students in the BS Accounting and Finance program may pursue a 4+1 Accelerated Master’s Pathway, enabling them to earn both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in five years. Students complete four years of undergraduate study at NIT, followed by one year of postgraduate education through Arizona State University (ASU).

Through this pathway, students may progress to master’s programs offered by the Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University, strengthening advanced financial insight, leadership capability, and global business understanding.

Students may choose from two advanced master’s options:

The Master of Global Management (MGM), offered on campus.

The accelerated pathway enhances career mobility, professional depth, and global exposure, positioning graduates for senior analytical, advisory, and leadership roles in finance-driven and internationally oriented organizations.

With a strong emphasis on real-world applications, the program includes capstone projects, hands-on labs, and electives in machine learning, digital signal processing, human-computer interaction, and more—ensuring students graduate job-ready and innovation-driven.
