Rules Governing Scholarships and Financial Aid

All scholarships awarded by the National Institute of Technology (NIT) apply for the full duration of the student’s degree program—four (4) years for undergraduate programs and two (2) years for postgraduate programs—unless otherwise stated in the offer letter. The scholarship covers tuition only and is applicable to the Fall and Spring semesters; it does not extend to Summer semesters. Continuation of the scholarship is strictly subject to the student’s continued compliance with academic performance standards, disciplinary regulations, and all other institutional requirements outlined below.

Academic Standing Requirements

To maintain eligibility for scholarships and financial aid, students must remain in good academic standing and meet the following minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) requirements:
          a. Undergraduate Programs: Minimum CGPA of 2.75
          b. Graduate Programs: Minimum CGPA of 3.00

If a student fails to meet the prescribed minimum CGPA at the time of the annual academic review, the scholarship shall be withdrawn for the subsequent semester.

If the student subsequently meets the minimum CGPA requirement in a later semester, the scholarship may be reinstated from that semester onward, subject to institutional approval.

Scholarships, tuition waivers, and any associated financial privileges (including housing support, where applicable) may be suspended or withdrawn in accordance with the decision of the competent authority if a student is found, after due process, to have violated the University’s Student Code of Conduct, Academic Integrity Policy, or other approved institutional regulations.

Scholarships, tuition waivers, and associated financial privileges may be withdrawn immediately if a student is found, following due disciplinary proceedings, to have engaged in academic dishonesty (including cheating or plagiarism) or any conduct that constitutes a violation of NIT’s approved academic and disciplinary policies.

  1. Students may become eligible for an Academic Excellence Scholarship based strictly on exceptional academic performance after the successful completion of sixty (60) credit hours. This scholarship category is reserved for High-Performing Students and is awarded on a competitive, merit-based evaluation in accordance with NIT’s approved academic policies. This scholarship cannot be combined with any other scholarship or financial aid. Students may avail only one scholarship, whichever is of higher value.
