NIT Hostel Facilities: What to Expect

The Residence Office at NIT provides off-campus housing facilities for out-of-town students. The Residence Office staff ensures that students are safe, comfortable, and enjoy their off-campus residence.

Facilities Available to Hostel Residents

Common Rooms & Social Spaces

Hostel buildings include modern common rooms with large-screen TVs, comfortable seating, and air conditioning. These areas are ideal for relaxing, group study, or spending time with friends. Lounges remain open until 11:00 PM. Students are reminded not to leave personal belongings unattended.

24/7 Medical Support

NIT ensures round-the-clock access to trained paramedic staff. Ambulance services are also available for emergencies, prioritizing the health and safety of all residents.

Room Essentials & Personalization

Hostel rooms come furnished with a bed, desk, wardrobe, electrical outlets, and lighting. Students are required to bring their own bedding (mattress, blanket, and pillows).
While walls may not be altered (no drilling or nailing), students may personalize their rooms with small items such as lamps, clocks, or personal fans.

Pantries & Laundry Facilities

Each floor offers a shared pantry equipped with essential appliances such as a refrigerator, microwave, toaster, water cooler, and iron.
Laundry services are available at a nominal cost through an outsourced vendor. Students are responsible for dropping off and collecting their laundry from the designated laundry room, where service charges are displayed.

Mail & Package Handling

Letters and packages are received and managed by the Hostel Warden. Outgoing mail can also be sent through the Warden, with courier charges payable by the student.

Transport

The Transport Office at NIT provides convenient transportation facilities for students commuting from different parts of the city. How to Apply

Students must sign up for housing and transport by filling out the residence and transport form at the start of each academic year. The Residence and Transport department will evaluate your needs and allocate the facility best suited to fulfill your demand.
