How do I sign up?
Signing up for a society at NIT is simple and student-friendly. During Orientation Week, all societies showcase their activities, events, and communities, giving you the chance to meet members and explore your interests. Each society will set up a sign-up platform, either online or at their booth, where you can register your details and join their mailing list. Society sign-ups open every semester, so whether you’re new to NIT or looking to try something different, you’ll always have an opportunity to get involved.
Creating a New Society
NIT provides the students the unique opportunity to propose new societies and become founding members, setting traditions for future generations. All societies operate under the SSE’s Co-Curricular Wing, which provides oversight, support, and resources for events and activities.
How to start a new society
Students with a new idea for a society can follow a simple, supportive process to bring their vision to life. Begin by preparing a clear proposal outlining the society’s purpose, activities, structure, and the value it will add to campus life. Once ready, present your proposal to the Student Services & Experience (SSE) Department, who will review it and guide you through any required improvements. The SSE will then forward the request to the relevant university committee and coordinate with the appropriate NIT departments for final evaluation and approval. Once approved, students can officially launch their society and begin recruiting members.
