Ameera Arif
Ameera Arif is a data scientist, researcher, and educator whose professional journey has been shaped by a unique combination of research, industry experience, and teaching. She holds an MS in Computer Science from the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Pakistan, and a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from FAST–National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences (FAST-NUCES). Her career began in research at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), where she contributed to interdisciplinary projects in energy informatics, load forecasting, and sustainability analytics. Through her work on real-world energy challenges, she developed a strong appreciation for the role of data-driven decision-making and became interested in applying machine learning techniques to complex problems beyond traditional computing domains. Her research has resulted in peer-reviewed publications and contributions to projects spanning computer vision, energy systems, artificial intelligence, and intelligent technologies.
Teaching has become a central focus of her professional career. Prior to joining NIT Lahore, she served as a Lecturer at the University of Central Punjab (UCP) and Lahore Garrison University (LGU), teaching courses in Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing, and Machine Learning. Working with students from diverse academic backgrounds reinforced her belief that data science is not merely about algorithms, but about cultivating critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to create meaningful impact through data. Her teaching philosophy combines theoretical foundations with practical, hands-on application, drawing upon both academic research and industry experience. At NIT Lahore, she is committed to fostering a globally oriented learning environment and equipping students with the technical, analytical, and research skills required to succeed in an increasingly AI-driven world.
